He won the pole at both superspeedway races and combined a bonus point for the California top qualifying effort with 20 points for the race win. Jonny ended the year fourth in the championship with 89 points, edging out Scott Dixon by one point for the position and the rookie title. Jonny didn't finish lower than ninth in the year's final six races and recorded a pair of third-place finishes at Detroit and Laguna Seca prior to the California win. Jonny was a surprise pole winner in the year's first superspeedway race at Michigan in July and finished seventh. One race prior to that, Jonny kicked off the home stretch of six races with a solid fifth at Toronto. Prior to that, his season was tough going. Although he finished sixth at Portland, where he qualified second, and opened strong with a seventh at Miami, several accidents prevented him from running up front. Info from Indy Lights |
